Tsunami Support

Still Waters raised significant funds to help families rebuild their homes and restore their livelihood. We provided fishing boats, nets and outboard motors to help fishermen get back to work. We built new homes. We donated computers, books and equipment to help schools with their training programmes. Click on Tsunami Support for more information and pictures.

What we need

It costs us £40 to educate, clothe and support one child per month.  We are looking for partners who will commit to giving a regular donation each month to support us.  We are constantly being asked to receive new children, and we cannot add to the present number without additional funds.  Please pray for us and help in any way you can.

Good, clean clothes for girls and boys

Clothes are inexpensive in Sri Lanka.  Please do not buy new clothes to donate to Still Waters.

We welcome volunteers from the UK and Europe who are able to spend at least a month working at Still Waters.

Still Waters cares for poor and vulnerable children
Still Waters provides a home and hope for underprivileged, poor and orphaned children. The project is on a 15-acre site in Tangalle on the south coast of the island.  Still Waters offers practical and emotional support, giving significance to poor and vulnerable children, and helping them to learn and grow in an environment of love and acceptance.  They have a secure home, receive formal education and can be involved in a wide range of training, including farming and agriculture, woodworking, building and computer skills.  We are an inclusive organisation and our care and support is open to all regardless of class, creed, caste or race

Some of the ways we support children and families

In addition to the care and support of vulnerable children at the Still Waters Home we provide the following services:

Enable young people to access appropriate training in skills that will equip them for gainful employment.

Provide Education Grants to encourage families to allow gifted children to remain in full-time education and gain access to University.  This prevents the child being taken out of school and sent out to work to supplement the family income.

We are committed to giving children an all-round education and training. They excel in sport, music, dance and drama.

Help to build toilets, and connect homes to clean water supply.  Providing good sanitation facilities makes a significant difference to the well-being of poor families.

Provide tools, equipment and small grants to help families start up small businesses.
